Bernard Dugat-Py Gevrey Chambertin Les Evocelles 2017

One of the premier domaines in Gevrey-Chambertin, Dugat-Py has become a cult favorite: Farming just 10 hectares of vines, Bernard Dugat-Py and son Loïc are known for extremely elegant, hauntingly aromatic expressions of Pinot Noir from choice parcels—including three Grand Crus. Their incredible vaulted cellar, once part of an abbey, dates to the 12th century. The trés vieilles vignes, or “very old vines,” are in this case 65+-year-old plantings in the “Les Evocelles” lieu-dit, which sits at the northern end of the Gevrey-Chambertin growing zone in the hamlet of Brochon. The Les Evocelles vineyard is adjacent to the “Champeaux” Premier Cru and, in Dugat-Py’s hands especially, performs at that level—this is profound red Burgundy structured for long aging.
