Located at MĂšze, near the âBassin de Thauâ in the Languedoc, Domaine FĂ©lines was purchased by the Jourdan family in 1983. Forty hectares of vines are planted on soils which are mostly chalk and clay. Rainfall is low, but the area benefits from refreshing moist breezes due to its proximity to the sea. The nearby bird reserve and Thau Lagoon were developed to protect the local environment. The Jourdan family undertook a replanting programme using improved varieties, and farm using sustainable practices.
The old-fashioned southern French white variety, Picpoul de Pinet, was first produced at the domaine in 1992. Picpoul de Pinet is captivating, yielding fresh, crisp, dry white wines with aromas of citrus, exotic fruits and florals with hints of fennel and minerality. The wonderful backbone of acidity and depth of fruit Picpoul de Pinet can generate is evidenced in Claude Jourdanâs newly released CuvĂ©e FĂ©line.
