Idda Etna Rosso Dop 2023
IDDA means āsheā in the Sicilian dialect, the name locals use for Mount Etna, spoken with equal parts affection and reverence. This Etna Rosso is led by Nerello Mascalese, with a small portion of Nerello Cappuccio, sourced entirely from the Biancavilla vineyard on Etnaās southern slopes. Planted in 1975 and sitting between 700 and 800 metres above sea level, the site delivers freshness, perfume and fine natural structure.
Fermented in a mix of stainless steel and seasoned wood with a portion of whole bunches, the wine is aged for 18 months in large-format French and Austrian oak before blending. The result is a bright, finely structured Etna red, offering cranberry, red cherry and floral notes, supported by firm yet elegant tannins and a fresh, mineral-driven finish.
Refined and expressive, this is a poised, modern interpretation of Etna Rosso that remains deeply rooted in place.
