The first wines that really engaged us were the Cabernet and Merlot dominant blends of the Hawkeās Bay, shared with our mother in the late 90ās. She passed away shortly after.
We still have a few wines from that time. They tell a story and are incredibly ageless. So we felt compelled to take a modern spin to the Hawkeās Bay classic, red blend.
Making wine in Te Matau a MÄui feels like we are going full circle, letting life flow to where it wants to go.
Red fruits, dark plum, spice, licorice and herb notes. The palate is soft and gentle, but has a beautiful medium weight, light juicy tannins and a fresh acid finish.
