Les Cortis Brisûre Rosé 2022
Brisûre' is as much a light red as a rosé, with a complex character that is interesting and hard to pin down. Made from a blend of the rare Altesse grape and Gamay, this rosé has peach and strawberry fruits, but also almonds and nutmeg with herbal spicy elements and a bit of wildness too. It's a smorgasbord natural wine that is such a delight to drink.
Having his own plot of organic vines was JeÌreÌmy Coiffier's dream. After a decade-long apprenticeship at the who's who of natural and minimal intervention Chablis winemakers, JeÌreÌmy and his wife Isabel purchased a small vineyard in Bugey, near the French/Swiss border. Bugey is a unique region that is most famous for sparkling red than anything else, and provided the vehicle to craft something unique.
Nestled at 400-500 metres above sea level on glacier-carved hillsides, the Les Cortis vineyard feels special. Here, JeÌreÌmy now farms a unique mix of Mondeuse, Chardonnay, Gamay, Altesse and more using proudly regenerative agriculture, crafting an ever-changing range that typically includes light reds, sometimes rosĂ© and textured and minerally whites. Bottled with minimal interventions of any kind, they're absolutely fascinating, vital natural wines of real crunch and style.
