Maestro Tejero El Rey Del Glam Garnacha 2016

100% Garnacha, multiregional, carbonic maceration. You could file this under either Ribera del Duero or Madrid as it's actually a blend of fruit sourced from both regions. ‘The King of Glam’ started off as an experiment – to find out what would result from blending Garnacha from both areas and using whole bunch, carbonic maceration. The results were so damn delicious that Alfredo has now made it a permanent part of the range. Bright and juicy and packed with sarsaparilla, red jube and brown spice notes – there’s loads of sweet fruit and a vibrant clean finish. It is, to quote Alice Feiring, “Alfredo Maestro's glou-glou wine.”

The grapes are drawn (50:50) from the Peñafiel high country of Ribera del Duero and Alfredo's plots in the Navarredondilla part of the Sierra de Gredos mountain range, west of Madrid (200km apart as the crow flies). As with El Marciano above, there’s no oak, wild yeast fermentation and no fining or filtration.
