Marion Borgo Valpolicella 2022
The Borgo is Marion’s most joyful red. Sourced from the Campedelli family’s vineyards in the quiet Marcellise Valley east of Verona, it’s a pure expression of Valpolicella without the weight or fuss of appassimento.
Made from the classic local mix of Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella, this is Valpolicella as the Italians drink it at home: crunchy red cherries, wild strawberries, a flicker of herbs and spice, all carried on fresh acidity and fine, feathery tannins. It’s bottled young to preserve its energy, giving you a red that’s both savoury and refreshing, with just enough depth.
This is the Marion wine we reach for on weeknights and long lunches alike – the one that sits happily alongside pizza, pasta, charcuterie or nothing at all. Think of it as Italy’s answer to Cru Beaujolais or Jura reds: unpretentious, food-friendly, and dangerously drinkable.
The estate may be guided by the influence of Quintarelli alumnus Celestino Gaspari, but the Borgo is all about ease and charm. For us, it’s the gateway to Marion – and one of the best-value Italian reds on our shelves.
